Crown Heights

Work Heights is locally owned and guess what, we LOVE Crown Heights. Check out a quick video about how Work Heights came to be.

Office space in the morning, community venue by night, Sam's co-working spaces support creativity in Crown Heights at all hours of the day. Video by The New Regulars.

We support our community and would like to take a moment to highlight some of our friends in the neighborhood!

Brooklyn Blooms

Brooklyn Blooms

Flowers can mean the world to a person. LaParis Phillips brings the world and her arrangements right to us in our neighborhood!

Here's a little about LeParis:

I studied fashion design in college and planned to go on to work in that industry. During college I worked part-time in flower shops and learned a strong work ethic while developing my eye for flowers and arrangements. When I graduated college, I had planned to move into fashion, however I found myself drawn to the florist trade. I ended up working for 10 years in the industry before I finally opened my own shop in Bed-Stuy, I named Brooklyn Blooms.

When a client comes to Brooklyn Blooms, my aim is to provide an enriching experience of beauty in the flowers and plants that I create for them. When designing floral arrangements, I incorporate my fashion sensibilities by utilizing elements of texture, movement, and eye-catching colors.

Being a floral designer goes beyond just placing flowers in a vase, it requires a tremendous attention to details and the desires of each and every customer. In my years of experience, I have gained the unique ability to literally bring the world to your space. I do this by sourcing flowers that have traveled from South Africa, Japan, Ecuador, California, Holland, and other faraway places that my customers may have imagined, but may not have been able to experience first hand. My goal is to bring the world to each and every person that receives a Brooklyn Blooms floral arrangement.

Lazy Ibis

Lazy Ibis

Not just a great restaurant, they roast their own coffee, which we serve at Work Heights. A win win win.

From the owner Rafael:

My introduction to coffee startedback when I was about 9 years old. I remember running home from school to have some of my aunts fresh made coffee and I was forever hooked. I love the art of crafting great tasting coffee peered with great food and a relaxing environment to enjoy it in. I can remember the smell of the coffee cooking on the stove like it was yesterday. We did not have a modern electric grinder, we would manually grind the coffee. It was hard work but the reward tasted so great. I always wanted to work in a coffee shop setting, so it was a natural progression for me to end up working in coffee shops. I am always learning new things in both fields (food and coffee). It brings great joy to have you all accompany me on this journey of great taste and new discoveries in coffee. - Hello and welcome to the Lazy IBIS.

Puerto Viejo

Puerto Viejo

Empanadas and sangria, made the authentic Dominican way.

Puerto Viejo Restaurant is a Dominican Bistro located in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn. Upon entering you are greeted with the mouth-watering aroma of our delicious Dominican cuisine and the atmosphere transports you to an old port in La Hispaniola, which today is known as the Dominican Republic.
Here at Puerto Viejo, we serve flavorful food that feels like it has been cooked from the comfort of your own home.

Puerto Viejo is a family restaurant that has been operating for 30 years. The owner (The Father in the family) emigrated from the Dominican Republic in 1978 and worked tirelessly as a dishwasher and busboy until he saved enough to realize his dream. In 1984, he opened his own Dominican luncheonette and offered his family’s favorite dishes – pernil, baked chicken, beef stew, rice / beans, maduros and tostones!  In 2012 a fire destroyed the restaurant and he was forced to shut down. After the fire, his children got involved and created the concept of Puerto Viejo Dominican Bistro. The restaurant reopened with the same menu and kitchen crew, but with a remodeled interior and new management, (the kids).

King Tai

The best little bar in Crown Heights.

King Tai is what a neighborhood bar should be. Friendly, small, with impeccable cocktails, and good vibes.

They have a great selection of Tequila's and Mezcal's along with the rest of your favorite cocktails. The bartenders know their stuff and on the weekends, they've  got vinyl Dj's, (not digital, vinyl) that's make you shake your thing.
